The Difference Between College and High School Once you get to college, you notice many changes from High School. You see changes in the way people dress, teachers teach, parking, and the responsibility that you now have that you didn’t have as much of. But one of the most important changes in college is the classrooms. High school is the gateway of becoming an adult and helps you prepare for college but it also feels like a second home. All the people that you go to high school with, you see them every single day that you grow a friendship with them and you graduate high school with those same people. Sects are usually very hostile groups and 9 times out of 10 they will be ‘world rejecting’, meaning that they reject the outside world and believe it is either corrupt or beyond redemption. Such groups tend to abandon the outside world and start their own community with their own way of life or attempt to transform the world with an evangelical approach. An example of a sect which has cut off from the world is the Unification Church, often known as ‘The moonies’ – they reject materialism and encourage its members to hand over all assets whilst imposing an ascetic lifestyle on them. He also suggests, ‘the protestant ethic effect’ this is the result of the members living an ascetic lifestyle. People are most likely to join a sect because they are looking for a theodicy of disprivelage to legitimate their position in society, and after living this lifestyle where by they save their money and do not spend it on material goods. They will no longer need the theodicy of disprivelage and will be tempted to compromise with the world and become world accommodating. The Final suggestion, also stated in item A is that most sects have a charismatic leader, and when this leader dies they will either collapse or a new more bureaucratic leadership will take over, this will then transform them into a denomination. However, on the other hand Aldridge suggests that many sects have existed a long time while still retaining their features as sects such as Jehovah’s witnesses. In addition, sects maintain a strict conduct, so much so that if members fail to conform to these standards then they will be expelled, he also points out that sects are very good at socializing children into the acceptance of their beliefs and practices. Similarly, Stark and Bainbridge view religious organizations such as sects as moving through a cycle, they call this ‘the sectarian cycle. ’ The first stage is the ‘schism’, which is when there is tension and disagreement between the privileged, and deprived within a church, the deprived break away to form a world-rejecting sect with slightly different beliefs and practices. The second stage is ‘initial fervor’ which is when a charismatic leader will take over and form great tension between the sect and the outside world, thirdly the sect will then turn to a denomination for the same reasons suggested by Niebuhr leading to them finally, becoming an establishment. This sees the sect become world accommodating; within this stage there is usually a further schism, where more zealous members break away to form a new sect more true to the original message. On the other hand, not all sects are short – lived. Not all sects depend on a charismatic leader so the death of a leader would not affect the functioning of the sect enough for it to collapse and become a denomination; also Many sects have outlived one generation and have still retained their features. Saving Private Ryan Essays - Operation Overlord, Operation Neptune

Saving Private Ryan June 6, 1944. Military forces converge on the beaches of Normandy for one of the most decisive battles of World War Two. America would call this a victory. History would call it D-Day. But for Captain Miller and his squad of young soldiers, the day after the landing on Omaha Beach would change all of there lives. They would get a special order from Washington ordering them to go on a personnel mission to save one life. One soldier lost three of his brothers in combat. One on Omaha Beach, one on Utah Beach, and the other in New Guinea. They realize this is not a simple mission to save a life but a test of their honor and duty. Their sole obsession-and their last hope for redemption. Upon arriving at Omaha Beach Captain Miller was faced with many problems. The Germans were awaiting the arrival of the American forces and attacked the ships landing on the beach before the troops were even able to exit the boats. Many of Millers men were lost on the beach along with many men from many other companies. Miller lead his mean along a wall on the beach and over took German forces to escape with most of this troop in tact. What he didn't realize was that on of the men lost on the beach was a Private Ryan. Captain Miller continued to lead his men into enemy territory despite the loss of some of his men. He then reached a friendly base set up. Upon arriving at the base he received orders that his mission would be changing. He was told of the Private Ryan that died at the Omaha beach invasion. He was also told of the other two Ryan boys from Iowa that had already died in the war. He wasn't really sure why he was being told this. Then the worst part came. He was ordered to try to find the one remaining Ryan brother. No one was sure where he was or if he was even alive. He was told of an earlier incident where three brothers from Iowa had all been killed in the war and the mother was left alone. The United States army was now ready to risk the lived of Captain Miller and seven of his men to try and save this one man just so his mother wouldn't have to lose her only remaining son. To Captain Miller this seemed a little extreme. Think of our mothers thought Miller and his men. They had no choice though, they were under orders. Along the way Millers company would stop by another American base to pick up an American soldier to translate to the German civilians they would meet along the way. They traveled to may abandoned and demolished remains of what used to be towns in search of Private Ryan. Miller lost many of his men along the way during encounters with German paratroopers and hidden German machine gun nests. But despite loosing many men they were able to continue. The met remaining parts of an American Paratrooping unit along the way to somewhat replenish their forces. But the paratroopers weren't in much better shape than Millers bunch. They continued in search of Ryan and finally found him in a town on the river. He was in a patchwork infantry trying to prevent the Germans from taking a bridge that was vital to the strategies of the United States Army. Private Ryan wouldn't leave with Miller though, he insisted on staying and fighting the Germans. He didn't want to be remembered as a coward. Miller agreed, and his men, battered and beaten, also agreed to stay and fight one last fight before going home. They managed to hold off the German advances until help arrived. They again lost many men in this effort but Private Ryan survived. Captain Miller has reached his goal and Ryan would make it home. I thought this was a very good book. I thought it made a very good point about some of the difficult decisions facing the men in the middle of a hostile environment in another country and the bravery shown by many men in the heat of battle. I can't say if I were placed in the same position if I would be able to do the same thing as some of those men. The court is also charged with the important duty of interpreting the constitution and establishing whether certain statues are constitutional or not. I was a normal Animal who worked my hours in the farm during the day but in the night I interviewed Animals to see their points of view about their life under Napoleon leadership. My first interview was with boxer and it went as the following: Boxer what do you think about Napoleon? Hmmm Napoleon is a good leader but he always wastes our time in searching for Snowball, and his last act with the four Pigs was inappropriate and the Dogs are going brutal as it was the first time in my whole life seen an Animal kill an Animal! But I know one thing for sure which is too work harder than ever to finish building the windmill and retire. After the battle with Mr. Fredrick I went to Squealer and asked him few questions. Squealer may I speak with you? yes comrade. I would like to ask you few questions? Yes no problem. Who do you think should earn an medal for being the War hero? Of course our leader Napoleon as without his instructions and faith in us we will be dead by now and that being said I would like to leave as I have a very confidential meeting with the pigs. A few days passed until the pigeons came running with the news that Boxer has fallen as most of the animals rushed there and saw what happened after a few days I interviewed Boxer again and asked him what happened. - I thought that we need to finish the windmill as soon as possible and I worked so hard before retiring as my muscles have failed me but this time when I get better I am not going back to work for good. After this conversation between us the carriage came and it was written in the back horse slaughter and by the time I finished reading the carriage was long gone was Boxer trapped in it. Years and years have passed and the next thing we saw in the farm was astonishingly unexpected when the pigs came back from their secret training they were no ordinary pigs they were semi humans as they were standing on two legs and wearing coats. So I rushed over to Clover and had a little conversation with her s ince shes one of the animals who lived and survived after the rebellion. Clover lets go and check the commandments and what we found out left us in a shock for a while and the commandment was like ALL ANIMALS ARE EQUAL BUT SOME ARE MORE EQUAL THAN OTHERS. After we saw that commandment and that Boxer hard work was all in vein and his goal to build a better place for animals was torn all apart I might not be as smart as the pigs but I know for sure that old major dream and vision was all in vein and his dream to create an equal place for all the animals was forgotten as I decided to forget too and get back to living in the shadows.

Therefore they should focus on customer loyalty and the importance it plays within the organisation so creating and ensuring customer satisfaction is a very important factor. The general intention of this article is to explore the role played by interpersonal- relayed factors in gaining and developing customer loyalty to the company. Throughout the article we get to know how interpersonal relationships play a part in building customer loyalty and satisfaction towards the firm. We are able to appreciate the difference between customer-and-employee, and employee-and-employee relationships, and the impact they subsequently have on the organisation, both advantageous and otherwise. The customer-and-employee relationship is shown in the article to make a positive input to the firm, as interaction between the front line workers and the customer creates an overall perception of quality provided by the service provider. The article suggests that the social bonding between customer and employee makes the customer more committed and trust worthy of the firm, and consequently more loyal. It emphasises the importance of sales force skills and behaviour in gaining customer trust and developing long term buyer- seller relationships. This will not only develop the customers relationship with the employee but also with the firm thus achieving positive results. The article also highlights reasons why this relationship could have a negative effect on the firm, as the customers would become too loyal to the front line workers. This would have an impact when the employee left the firm as the customer would follow that employee or find another firm, as the relationship the customer had was directly loyal only to the employee. The other relationship which is portrayed within the article is customer-to-customer, which is said to contribute to the development of transactional satisfaction. This also plays a part in the development of long term relations within a firm, by their contact and interaction. Creating a strong bond, customers may interact at a regular basis and remain within their group of friends, this plays a positive effect on the intentional service. But again, same as the customer- to employee relationship, if one of the group of friends leave, they would follow and break their loyalty with that firm. This is a short summary of the main points in the article. It shows that customer satisfaction is a fundamental driver towards loyalty in the service market, and that monitoring the customers satisfaction levels should be a high priority for the service managers. There are tables within the article that help the ideas become clear about the impact of relationships on an organisation. Also the article points out how customer and employee relationships could be improved in order to be even more effective by such methods as personnel selection of front line workers, training to increase relation skills, reward systems based on fostering customer satisfaction and loyalty, and attention being paid to the design of facilities and layouts to develop the interaction between front line workers and customers. But on the other hand nothing can control the risk of a strong social link developing, thus the risk of losing the customers. I chose this article as I was intrigued as to how different relationships affect the customers perception of the company. It is interesting to get to know how the firm builds on social bonding with the customers, where the front line workers build friendships and get to know each other on a social basis. In return they gain each others trust and commitment hence the customer is not only loyal to the firm but also to the employee. This shows that customer service must be of a high standard within this particular firm, and I can imagine plays an important role in other organisations too. It contributes to the understanding of the customers and thereby maintains their loyalty. The essence of a salesmanship is the development of a social exchange relationship with buyers, such that economics and social benefits of mutual value can be traded (Tarn and Wong, 2001) The relationship creates a positive impact on the firm, both economically and sociably, and in return this makes customers loyal. Not only does the article show positive outcomes of the relationship, it also shows that problems can occur, thus making it realistic to read. Relationships can have a great impact on the social benefits of the firm, but can also backfire through employee loyalty rather than firm loyalty. Therefore, as shown in the article, if an employee would leave the firm the customer would follow them, as they have created a strong bond. This is interesting to know as it shows how relationships can have a beneficial impact on an organisation, but on the other hand can also be detrimental. This shows the dynamic effect a relationship plays on the firm, therefore firms must handle these situations very carefully and try to overcome the problem by making not only the customers satisfied with the firm but also the employees as well. The other important factor within relationship is communication between the customers and employees to enhance their understanding, Effective communication is seen in employees collaborating, interacting, and engaging with others in ways which help them understand the importance and meaning of that engagement, (Pace, R et all. 1989) This enhances my understanding again of the pressures which are placed on the organisation by dynamic competition, therefore creating a strong relationship with customers can play a very effective and positive role in the organisation. This is agreed by another author, Buendapudi and Berry (1997), the importance of interrelationship within a firm, they stated that, Relationship marketing has also expanded beyond its initial conceptualisation as a firms efforts to attract maintain and enhance relationships with its customers. This shows the importance of an organisation maintaining a strong relationship with its customers, and the best way of creating that bond is through the front line workers and the customers. This has been called a social bond within the article. It generates the organisations awareness of what the customers want to gain from the organisation and how it should be developed by more knowledge and understanding of the customers needs. This will give the organisation a strategic advantage within the market place. The customer- orientated firm is committed to relationship marketing and employees work together to solve customer problems. Employees morale is a critical success factor in the customer- orientated company, especially for employees who deliver some aspect of a products service bundle (Beatty et all. 1996) This shows that the organisations true mission is to establish an environment that creates value for the customer, employee and the investors. Therefore the importance of the orientation working within any organisation is the importance that the managers must be committed not only to the employees but also to their customers. This would therefore generate relationships within the organisation, and enhance interaction, which is a key variable to maintain the customers. Again this shows the advantage and importance of establishing a strong relationship with customers. The article also showed me that there are disadvantages in creating these strong bonds with customers and employees, and that they could have a negative economic effect on the organisation. If the employee decides to leave the organisation the customer might follow, as they have developed a customer and employee loyalty, not firm loyalty. This is also shown in research that Beatty, Mayer, Reynolds and Lee, (1996) undertook within sales, as they found that organisations lost their customers as they followed an associate who went to work for a competing organisation. The trust and honest relationship the customer had built with the employees within the firm had led the customer to depend on their Sales Assistant, which is a huge disadvantage for the company if the employee left, Firms engaging in relationship selling as a key strategy need to develop and implement specific policies and programs aimed at retaining their customers when successful relationship- building Sales Assistance choose to leave the firm. The strength of a relationship can be very powerful and create difficulties for an organisation to maintain their customers once an employee leaves. Further research is needed within this field, and also the issue of customers ability to maintain a relationship, either with a firm or employee. Not only does the fact that an employee leaving the company may remove the customers loyalty from the firm, but there are other factors that werent included in the article. The behaviour of another customer will affect another customers experience within an organisation. For example Grove and Fisk (1997) found that, standing in line is a serious challenge for many people, extended waits that often accompany many service encounters can put people in a bad mood, tempers can flare and disruptive behaviour can result. This could have a huge impact on a customers attitude towards the firm. But satisfying all customers is impossible as everyone has a different idea regarding what is appropriate in any situation. Therefore in this particular situation line managers were suggested to entertain customers while queuing to ensure that problems among customers didnt occur. To help recover from difficult situations such as these and to stabilise relationships, †¦ recruitment, subsequent training and appraisal methods should also be focused on the service works customer orientation (Bove et all, 2000). This brings together all the different ideas I have developed and understood about how important relationships can be within an organisation, but yet again, on the other hand, a disadvantage.
